How EVOLUM works.
Everything you need to know — how to move around the platform, who the four doors are for, what your AI partner Evie does, what a Deal Room actually looks like, and how to talk to us if your question isn't here.
Getting around EVOLUM
EVOLUM has four doors — Filmmaker, Actor, Investor, Supporter — and each opens onto a different set of rooms. Most users live in one door but can browse the public surfaces of the others.
Start at /filmmaker-workspace. That's your home room. From there you'll see your project slate (or an empty state with "Upload Your First Script"). Each project flows through:
Idea → Script → Pitch Deck → Deal Room → Booking → Production → Deliverables.
You don't have to go in order, but most filmmakers do. The script feeds the deck. The deck feeds the deal rooms. Pledges feed production. If you get lost, Evie — your AI partner — sits in the corner of every room. She knows where you are and where you're heading.
Two rooms: /audition (the actor's workspace with sides, prompter, and self-tape recording) and /actor-casting (the public casting board with open roles posted by filmmakers).
Browse Casting to find roles. Use the Audition workspace to prep — Evie reads the sides with you, coaches your read, and runs the prompter while you record. When you book a role, log it into your Booked Role packet so the prep notes follow you to set.
Start at /investor-deal-room. Every project currently raising appears there with its funding ask, deal type, and pitch link. Click any project to read its pitch. You'll sign a one-page NDA to access the deck, the package, and the filmmaker's contact.
When a project's drive closes, the filmmaker schedules a private Deal Room session with you. It's a real negotiation — term sheets get drafted live by our AI mediator, and your counsel takes it from there.
Start at /supporter-feed. Projects currently raising are listed there with their funding progress, deal type, and pledge link. Click any project to read the pitch and pledge support.
Your pledge is a Letter of Intent, not a payment. If the project hits 100% of its drive, the filmmaker reaches out to close. If it doesn't, the pledge dissolves and no money moves. The first supporter on any project gets the Cherry Breaker badge — the credit given to the one who believed first.
Evie is the AI partner built into EVOLUM. She lives in the corner of every tool room. She reads your script, drafts your deck, runs your audition prompter, mediates Deal Room negotiations, and concierges new supporters through the catalog. She isn't a chatbot — she has context for what you're working on and the platform you're working in.
Evie is powered by Anthropic's Claude. Your conversations with her stay in your session and are never used to train third-party models. See the Privacy Policy for details.
For Filmmakers
Upload your screenplay. Evie reads it and generates a multi-slide investor deck — logline, synopsis, key art, comparable films, market analysis, team, budget, ask, return profile. You can regenerate any slide, edit the copy directly, or rebuild from scratch. Export as PDF or PowerPoint.
An end-to-end read of your script generated by Evie. It surfaces dramatic arc, character notes, structural observations, theme, market comparables, and notes a coverage reader might give. Useful as a private second-pair-of-eyes before you send the script out — or as the foundation for the deck.
From your Project Room, set your funding goal, deal type (equity / revenue share / donation), and closing date. Flip the project to live. Your pitch page goes public at /project-room?id=<your-project-id> and the project appears on the Investor Deal Room and Supporter Feed.
You can run an investor side (NDA-gated, accredited investors) and a supporter side (open, smaller pledges, EP credit for backing) on the same project — most filmmakers run both.
The drive auto-closes. Every pledger gets an email saying "drive closed, your Deal Room is next." You get the closing playbook. Your project moves into the Production phase on your workspace. You schedule Deal Room sessions with each investor, sign real paper with your counsel, and start spending.
For Actors
A self-tape studio built into your workspace. Load your sides, Evie reads the off-camera lines and coaches your read in real time, the prompter scrolls at your pace, and you record straight from the booth. Background removal and scene-context backgrounds are available on the paid tier.
Once you book a role, EVOLUM generates a prep packet for the production day — scene-by-scene breakdown, emotional arc, character history, costume/continuity notes, and call-time logistics. Download as a PDF before your call.
Yes — the Actor Casting board lists open roles posted by filmmakers on the platform. The board is free to browse. Submitting a self-tape and following up with the filmmaker requires an active subscription on the actor side.
For Investors
Filmmakers post unproduced screenplays and unsigned deals. The NDA protects their material from being copied or shopped while you decide. It's a one-page confidentiality agreement, signed digitally in 30 seconds, before the deck and the package open.
A private two-party negotiation — you and the filmmaker — mediated live by Evie. She drafts a term sheet in real time based on what you both agree to, surfaces standard clauses, flags what's missing, and produces a signable document at the end. Both parties take the draft to their counsel before signing.
It's not a chatbot. It's a two-sided negotiation with a third party in the middle keeping it clean and on the record.
No. EVOLUM never touches investor money. Wire instructions and execution happen between you and each filmmaker outside the platform — bank to bank. We're a deal-making and document-drafting workshop, not an escrow service or broker-dealer.
If a project's drive doesn't reach 100% of its funding goal by the close date, every pledge dissolves automatically. No money moves. This protects investors from getting trapped in undercapitalized productions, and pushes filmmakers to either re-launch the drive at a lower goal or move on.
For Supporters
No. A pledge is a Letter of Intent — your stated commitment to back the project IF the drive hits 100%. No money moves on a pledge. If the project closes, the filmmaker reaches out to confirm and you complete the contribution (Stripe charge or wire, depending on tier). If the drive fails, the pledge dissolves automatically.
The first person to pledge on a project. Your name gets the Cherry Breaker badge, you're highlighted on the project's Honor Roll, and most filmmakers credit you by name on the finished film. It's the most-watched slot on every drive — it signals to everyone behind you that the project is real.
The Cherry Breaker, the Closer (the pledge that hits 100%), and the First Wave (top early pledgers) typically get the highest-billed supporter credits. The standard supporter tier is "Backed By" or "Special Thanks." Executive Producer credit is reserved for investor-tier participation through a signed Deal Room agreement.
Yes — until the drive closes at 100%. While the drive is live, you can revoke a pledge from your supporter dashboard. Once the drive closes, your pledge becomes a binding commitment and revocation goes through the filmmaker and their counsel.
Money & Legal
Subscription fees from filmmakers and the paid actor tier. EVOLUM does not take a cut of pledges, investments, or supporter funds. Deals happen between filmmakers and their backers — we're the workshop, not the middleman.
A pledge is a Letter of Intent, not a contract. It becomes binding only when the drive closes at 100%, both parties confirm in the Deal Room, and a signed term sheet exists. Before that, either side can step back.
Depends on the deal type. Supporter pledges (small-dollar, donation-style, supporter-credit backing) are open to anyone. Equity and revenue-share investments typically require accredited investor status per SEC rules. Filmmakers verify status before closing.
Screenplays stay in your workspace. They are read by Evie (Anthropic's Claude API) to generate analyses and decks — they are not used to train third-party models. We are also developing Moving Target Defense (MTD) — a sharded, rotating storage system for IP-sensitive uploads. See the Privacy Policy for full data handling.
Account & Plans
From the Billing page — pick a new plan card. Upgrades take effect immediately and are pro-rated. Downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current cycle — access stays live until then.
Yes. Filmmakers can also pledge as supporters on other projects. Actors can also be supporters. Each role uses the same account — your dashboard surfaces what's relevant to what you're doing right now.
